It sounds like a bad hard drive because of the "tttttttttt" sound you're mentioning. A lot of things could cause your PC to do that but if it's making a ticking/knocking noise that could be a bad hard drive. Try booting in Safe Mode - hit F8 repeatedly as it's booting. If it boots fine in Safe Mode then it may be a software problem. Safe Mode is a mode that only loads the bare minimum of software and drivers thereby possibly eliminating a software problem. Of course then you'd have to figure out what is loading on a normal boot that is making it crash. If it keeps making that noise and will not boot then take it to get it fixed - well I guess you should do that anyway.

Some of the windows drivers is missing while loading windows, it actually restarts the system because it has an unstable driver location, due to the bad clusters and sectors, also fat32 can be damaged, that is where the system first starts and some damaged part of the hard drive can also be detected. If the damaged part was the hard disk plate due to shock, it actually spins up fast in an unknown speed and the hard disk head arm will just go back and fort as what you see in car's wind shield when it rains, and that can be heard as a ticking sound. And if the HDD head was damaged, it doesnt read data even though it is jewel (diamond and gold parts)

Boot the computer in safe mood. (press F8 while PC is booting up)
Once in safe mode, if your actually in and the PC is not constantly rebooting... do this:
press start, press run, type MSCONFIG. click the start up tab, and then click Disable All. Press OK and restart PC. If it successfully reboots, check the box that comes up and press ok. This procedure will eliminate background tasks that could be running in the background preventing your PC from booting.
If you successfully boot after that, go to www.download.com, do a search for Ad-Aware, download it, install it, run the program. Before doing a full system scan, be sure to update definitions. Then scan. This procedure will eliminate spyware on your PC which could also be preventing your computer from booting.
Another thing you can do it go into My Computer. Right click your C Drive, press properties. Click tools, click Check Now. Check both boxes and do a scan. This may promt you to restart, if it does, select yes. When your PC reboots, it will scan your PC and automatically fix errors on your HD.
If these procedures work properly and you are able to boot successfully, do a disk clean up and defragment your PC in Accessories, System tools.

That is Definately your hard either dead of dying!! :[ If you have anything inportant on that drive I would do anything possible to back up the drive..you can use programs like Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image or WIndows XP's own backup utiliity (Which completely sucks!) to perform the backup. Get a new harddrive! You can get one on new egg for about 70 bucks! (160 gigs or more). Only buy new never buy refurbished hard drives! I've only had bad news come out of refurbed drives, GET NEW. Once you do that install it, reinstall windows and reimage your drive.

it sounds like you have a stuck key, try checking all the keys on your keyboard for a stuck one, if that doesn't help, you might have an issue with your bios, hit f10 or f12 or whatever starts the bios, and check to see that your drives run in the sequence of c:, cdrom. if it is backward it is looking for the OS from the cd drive, when it should be looking for it in the C: drive.

well depending on what kind of computer u have, like a newer one with xp, you could reboot your computer using 4 disks that came with it,it might just be one, but i warn you, it will erase your entire hardrive and start up again like the computer is brand new, i usually panic and do it one the first sign of trouble. note: i suggest u back up all of your important info though good luck

Your hard drive is dead. Try using another and see if it boots up. I think it will. Had this happen to me recently. Sorry for the bad news.

That sound is probably your crashed hard drive. You can try starting in safe mode, but I think it is dead until you get a new hard drive.
