Have you ever blown up a balloon as far as it can be blown up? When you let the air out it looks like a floppy representation of what it should be. It takes a while for it to get back to the shape it was before you blew it up.
That is an awful lot the way your uterus is. It all depends on how small you were to begin with and how fit you are. If you are fairly fit and you are nursing your baby, your uterus should be close to normal by the time your baby is 6 weeks old. Your tummy muscles may take a while to follow. I know of quite a few women who have gotten back into their pre-pregnant clothes scant weeks after they had their baby. Others, I have seen struggle for months.
Just lay on your bed (safest for your back, right now) and do leg lifts while working those tummy muscles. Lift your right leg, hold for a count of ten, then exchange for your left leg. Do this a few times and then lift both legs at the same time until they are 12 inches off the bed. Use your tummy muscles, try to avoid using your back muscles. If you do this a few times each day, about 10 minutes each time, you will discover your flat tummy, again, and within a few weeks.
Good luck and Congratulations!

It's gonna take a few weeks, just be patient. If you're breastfeeding then your uterus will contract faster and make the bump go away quicker.

It took 9 months to get that way, so it will take at least that long to go back to "normal" or at least approximately down to what you used to look like before you got pregnant. Exercise and eating right will help, though.

actually, contrary to what others have said it actually takes your uterus a whole year to get back to normal. but it should be back to a fairly normal size within 6 weeks. but even if you lose all the weight, after you've had a couple babies you will always have that extra skin unless you are extremely genetically blessed or you have plastic surgery

The uterus takes several weeks to contract down to its normal size. The muscles of the abdomen need time to regain their tone.

can you imagine the trauma your body has gone through? You are incredibly swollen, full of fluids, and your hip bones take quite a while to get back to the position they were before.
