It was laid into the chicken's psyche from the moment it hatched: On some level of "self-actualization," it had always wondered if 'it' - the chicken, could indeed make it TO "the other side... " and, if the chicken did, in fact, SUCCEED what would it be like - what existential "underpinnings" would be there... on "the other side."

you see, this question of a chicken crossing a road is not that at all, but merely a metaphor for life to death and the meaning of life. The answers for why this chicken did indeed cross the road are as vast and complex as the multitude of answers that one would recieve if they were to ask what the meaning of life was. You can only guess at the chickens real reason for the road crossing.... to escape religious persecution, or to go to the store for a cold brew, or perhaps she was on a journey to find her parents who left her at the grand canyon years ago speeding off in a rambler station wagon..... just as one can only guess at the true meaning of life.... to have fun, perhaps to be subserviant to God if he exists, or maybe none of this is even real... so from a philosophical standpoiny I hope I have cleared up some of this perplexing mystery of the chicken, and why it crossed the road.

Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road crossed the chicken depends entirely upon your point of view.

You have to understand, the chicken wasn't trying to cross a road. The road was just built where she liked to walk.

Personally, I've never known a chicken to cross the road. I've had chickens before, and they are pretty much content staying where they are.

because they don.t know how to walk backwards. chicken can only run or make a u-turn
in terms of chicken physics, making a u-turn can be disastrous because it will still lie within the accident path. so, the instinct is to cross the road.
but in all its panic, it forgets to look right

Evidently, it wanted to get to the other side. Why would anyone cross the road?
