we found this bird near our house this morning at kerala state,south india.

Its wings are wide (Total 75 inches), curved necks, light weight body (hardly 250 gm)

This large seabird looks like an albatross perhaps? I see it has webbed feet, and a long curved beak, although its beak is perhaps more pointed than I would expect on an albatross.

From its nostrils, it is almost certainly a member of the order Procellariiformes.

Once again Kelly C. is correct. The bird is definitely a frigate bird (Family Fregatidae). There are five species in this family, and they are all widely spread, although several of the species return to only one or two islands in the South Pacific to breed.

I would agree that it is probably a magnificent frigate bird (Fregata magnificens).

What you have found is a Female Magnificent Frigate bird. Very awesome!! I hope it recovered and flew away...like to know what happens, so lets have an update!! check out the link below for pictures of male bird and description and photos of female bird.

It looks like a Frigate bird.
If you do a search on google for "birds of southern India, it will bring up some great sites.

Along with several others, I say it's a frigate bird, most likely female (it seems to be lacking a pouch)

It is definitely some sort of sea bird. Look at the webfeet. Also the bird beek is typical of those feed of the ocean.

definitely a female Frigatebird. Not sure which species you get in India...perhaps a Magnificent Frigatebird.
