I suggest that you use an on-line thesaurus.
I went to thesaurus.reference.com, entered "contrast," and got the following:
Main Entry: contrast
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: difference
Synonyms: adverse, antithesis, comparison, contradiction, contradistinction, contraposition, contrariety, converse, differentiation, disagreement, disparity, dissimilarity, dissimilitude, distinction, divergence, diversity, foil, heterogeneity, incompatibility, incongruousness, inconsistency, inequality, inverse, oppositeness, opposition, reverse, unlikeness, variance, variation
Antonyms: alikeness, likeness, mirror image, sameness, similarity

Many of these words would not be suitable for your essay, but some would probably work for you. And others might be usable if you change their form. For example:
"contrariety" would make you think to use the word "contrary"
"converse" could remind you of the adverb form, "conversely"
"dissimilarity" could lead you to "similar" or "similarly"

So, try the above-named site, or other thesauruses you can find by googling "thesaurus," and enter some of the words mentioned in your question. See what comes up.
Good luck!
