Factors like very high over-head, red tapes(e.g permits and licenses, rules and regulations;etc), small market, very competitive. Not a place to do business but a good place to work.

Hi! Actually not very true. Singapore is although a small country but it is very concentrated in such a sense that it is not as scattered as in those bigger countries. Moreover, so matter how far we have to travel, it will never be as far a travelling distance even from one end to the other as compared to those bigger countries. Also not forgetting the convenience of various modes of transportation, communications, multi-language, racial harmony, etc. and being a small country it is very easy to reach out to people. Also, it takes shorter time to publicise your services or products because of its accessibility as its market is very concentrated. Having a population of more than three over million people, you probably need only just 1% of the population to keep your business up and healthy. Well, of course there are also many factors that will determine the success and failure of a business. It actually lies in the person who runs a business. As we can see, there are businesses that are growing stronger and bigger and there are also those that are becoming weaker and shrinking ones. Everybody has their strategies in running their businesses but those who can really make it are those who possessed winning strategies and attitude along with patience. While setting up a business is not easy, maintaining it is even more a challenge not to say about growing it. What I would say is, success in running a business does not lie in which country you set up your business but rather it depends on how well-planned and prepared are you when come to setting up a business. One must have what it takes to become successful in whatever he/she do. Nothing is easy and in fact, no where is easy too! So, we have to look into our own self for the strength and weakness that are crucial for success and recognise those weaknesses within us and do something about it. Learn from those who have already succeeded and follow their path and you will be able to find your way to success too. Factors like high overheads, red-tapes, small market, competitiveness, etc are only but hurdles and challenges only to those people who really want to become successful. The fact is there are people who have managed to hurdle through all these and in fact, everyone who wanted to do business in Singapore will not be spared of these hurdles and challenges too! Just a little sharing.....
