I am sorry to say that the previous answers are incorrect.
The first three are talking about Internet Explore, and the fourth is talking about Yahoo Messenger.

The true answer is you CANNOT make Yahoo your default e-mail system, because Internet Explorer is a Microsoft product and they want you to use Hotmail; not Yahoo.

If you use Outlook, then you can try and set your default e-mail system to Yahoo in Outlook, but you cannot do it straight from Internet Explorer. If you try what the first three people mention then you will get a choice to use Microsoft = Hotmail, or Outlook.

There are other Internet Surfing programs like Firefox or Mozilla. They might have that option. I don't know, you will just have to check them out.
