I want a hobby where I can spend a little money from time to time, but nothing huge. (I don't want to be buying expensive computer or car parts all the time or anything).

I want something I can do often.. maybe even every day.

I want something that produces a tangible result. "Watching TV" is not a hobby I am looking for!

I'm pretty bad with art... so things like 'painting' are out.

Any suggestions?

You could try something like wood burning. The cost of the equipment is small and you can always start by using scrap lumber to see if you enjoy it. If you decide that you like it you could use it to make one of a kind gifts and maybe even sell some of your finished pieces. Good luck.

Maybe you could try quilting. It's not hard nor expensive. You can get all kinds of help from local quilting groups or even online!

I quilt. I grew up watching my Great Grandfather quilt after he chopped wood with an axe. Point here is he wasn't a sissy so it doesn't mean you're a sissy if you do this.

PLUS, you get a very tangible result from quilting! Just start out with small projects like maybe a wall hanging and then graduate to larger items then finally, a nice warm quilt to keep you warm on the cold winter nights!

Have fun!

You need to open your mind up wide.
Do not think about being bad.
Yeah perhaps you feel like things are hard.
Think about checking out some books at the library and browsing.
Look under making crafts from recycled items
Look in the kids section do not knock it. If you find one thing in a kid section that might be wonderful, It might be something that you could give for a gift for all your relatives for a birthday or holiday. It really can save money.
Look at learning how to tie flies for fishing if that is something that interests you.
Just check out books with photos and browse them. When you find the books you like renew those and turn back in the ones you do not want projects in. If you can copy the pages of the projects you like and pick ones where you can find the projects from recycled items or cheap items. Ask your friends and family to save stuff for you.

Ask the librarian to show you hoby books pull a bunch and look at them in the libray. They do not want you to put them back because you might put them in the wrong spot, so lucky for you you can just leave them there.

Birdwatching is something you can do everyday, even in the city. Only need binoculars and a good bird identification book. Can join a club like Audubon, and go on trips. Doesnt require any "talent" only vision! as far as having a tangible result, you can keep a "life" list of birds you've seen, or join in annual bird count.

A hobby should be an expression of your own interests. If you don't have a hobby you are probably not an eclectic person. What are your interests? What did you think was fun or cool when you were a kid, maybe if you did it now it would still be fun.

Scrapbooking seems pretty hot right now, although I don't really know what it is.

Get into photography! Get a digital camera (They dont have to be expensive) You dont even need film! If you have a computer, learn adobe photoshop from Lynda.com. And play away!

Or, learn to make websites, also from lynda.com. there are infinite possibilities, and if you get good, you can start selling your services for thousands of dollars! (Try selling quilts or model cars for that much!) It is very interesting, a little creative, and a great skill!

Get a membership to a gym that you can work out at and do things like swimming and get massages that sort of thing. Fitness and exercise is the best way to go ;)

Design and construct jewelry. It is great and sometimes you can sell your work. I picked it up when I broke my leg last year. It is fun. Not too expensive. Check www.firemountaingems.com for free supply catalogs. They are loaded with stuff that will drive your creative juices crazy.

Have fun.
