This is funny. At least this being AmERica and all I can freely say this:
If I were standing at, say, the border of Mexico and the USA and I were a patrolperson or whatever, I would make the gov't think I was doing my job but in reality I would be waving them all across with a wink and a smile. I'd tell them to go ahead- "No necesitas correr! Claro que no! Bienvenidos!"
Ha. Buncha people out there really t'd off now, but I'm totally serious.
ps. I would not feel the need to check anyone's bags.

I love some of the misunderstand going on here!

HELLO! in this example YOU are the guard. you are the one deciding to give them legal status or deny them entry!

No, not based on the limited scope you put there, I would not deny entry.
Beyond that, I would approve or deny on other factors. If he/she wants a short term visitor visa, no suitcase, and work tools, I would definitely DENY as that is an illegal in the making, pal!

If the person has a letter stamped and psotmarked from the US asking for help with a sick relative, I would approve.

Every case would be different, I am sure!

If I was a border guard and you came across the border with out the right papers, you would not get into this country, you have NO right to be here. That's why this country is in so much trouble, there are to many people coming across our border that do not be long here. And one other thing if they can not speak English, they should have learn it before they come to this country, if they can not speak English they do not belong here.

Yes! Books, movies or whatever...you don't have 2 agree w/what someone is carrying. This is America... We earn the right to be here, don't we!

I guess it ALL depends. I half Latino/ half black man, I must say there are a lot of Latino people in the US who -regretfully- have proyected a BAD image, so other people think we are ALL the same.
There are, on the other hand, polite people, like me and my parents, but then again VERY few.

Yes I would deny them unless they had legal papers to enter.

No, I would not deny entry based on my likes/dislikes.
I would deny them access for boarder jumping. I know not every one can afford traditional travel, but..I would not deny based on my views/taste.

If I was a border guard, I would follow the rules and laws that governed my position--nothing more, nothing less.

But...........I would never be one! What a godforsaken job!
