A lot of people in Texas are very religious and like letting people know so. But shouldn't they be practicing what they preach?

This is a thought provoking question. I think forgiveness is up to God and the victims. Our legal system is supposed to deliver justice for victims. The state of Texas has determined that justice in capital cases is execution. With all the appeals and now with DNA and forensic evidence the likelihood of executing the wrong person is practically nonexistent. I am intrigued by people being against the death penalty yet pro-abortion. That little baby didn't do anything and it is being executed. Where is the outcry from the anti-death penalty people?

Forgiveness is for people seeking salvation. The State of Texas is not a person that needs Gods forgiveness nor does it need to be forgiven. Texas has laws to keep people in check and to prevent horrible crimes against it's people.

I think it's a savage practice and I wish our country would end the death penalty. I'm not convinced it's God's will because He said, "Vengeance is mine. I shall repay." Texas Christians may truly be misguided when we see their pride and elation after an execution. In God's eyes, if you hate someone then you're guilty of murder. A lot of those Texas Republicans would then be lined up on death row for the hate they spew about Democrats.

I bet you don't have any plans of committing a murder in Texas now do you. If you commit a cold blooded murder you should face the punishment for doing so. An eye for eye works for me and shows others what not to do. I think we should still have public hangings out in front of the court house for convicted murders to really get the point across and show the consequences of your actions for all to see. It's not easy to get put on death row in today's legal system.

a)Does the bible really teach forgiveness? Or, is that just something the stinking, lying, preachers've convinced people so that they can get away with molesting your children? Read it straight through once for yourself without any pre-concieved notions and then tell me it's about forgiveness!

More people have died because of religion than any other cause...ever!

b)Even if it did, what does that have to do with anything? Danged if I'd want to live in any theocracy!

Audry-Many state have abolished the death penalty. Texas is a big wide open state where self will and a gun ruled for many year. Yes, Christ tough fogginess so pray that those hard headed Texans find Christ's compassion.

I think that capital (capitol) punishment is a very solid deterrent to heinous crimes.. IF the person is absolutely guilty, and is without remorse. California could save $million$ by using electric bleachers.
The Bible says thou shalt not murder. Cap punishment is ridding the planet of vermin.Smoke em' !

Apparently your eyes are the only thing that's bright. When you "forgive" murderers and let them loose again they kill someone else. If you let them live in prison for the rest of their life, we "pay" them to lay around and watch tv while the rest of us work and earn the money for them to live off us. If we execute them, they don't kill people anymore. That does not mean we don't forgive them, it just means we don't think they ought to kill anyone else. Comprende?

You're confusing forgiveness with lack of consequence. I can be forgiven of an offense (speeding ticket taken off my record) but still have the consequence (pay the fine).
