no point taking it 2 the geeks & paying through the nose for getting it looked at
first try restoring it to a few days prior to when the problem started. start > all programs> accessories>system tools> system restore.
if that does not work then :-
first put the cd of ur operating system in the drive and then boot the pc.
press esc/ f8/ del depending on ur pc to reach boot priority and boot from the cd.
the cd shall run asking u a lot of questions that u say yes 2.
when he warns u of installing multiple operating sys, ignore it and continue.
when u come to the place where it asks you about the file sys select "Format using NTFS (complete)" if ur running xp.
ur pc 's drive shall get reformatted, reload the mother board drivers after that and ur sys shall be as good as new

OK, you might strill have a virus or something like that. What I would suggest is back up all of your information on CDs or get an external hard drive and transfer all the files you want to keep - moves, videos, bookmarks, school files and whatever else you need. Then reformat the hard drive.

Ok, My guess is that it was some sort of virus you donwload - if you say this has never happended before.

Your computer came with boot cds. They have directions on how to reinstall them or reformat the hard drive. What this will do is erase everithing from your computer and clean it from whatever you have. But once you reformat the hard drive you will erase everything pictures music and so on, so save those files on an external hard drive or burn them on CDs or get a zip drive or use a mp3 player like ipod. Anyways, once you will reformat the hard drive you can transfer the information back to the cmputer and return the drive or whatever you bought.

If you are sacered however to do this, you can go to best buy or call geek squad to let them take a look at your computer, this will cost you money. So it depends on what you want to do.

WHat exactly where you doing? What kind of PC do you have? What do you have running on it for a browser? Is this something that has just started happening? Is it hot where you are? Can you hear your fans running. Generally this is a crash where the system shut itself off to prevent something bad from happening! More likely then not its something failing within your system! A processor overheating, A error with your ram, or video card. Its hard to tell with the information you gave us. Gather your information, what your system is, what your running, and what you were doing when it happened. Then go here and Post your information, and wait for a reply.. www.helponthe.net

This is a general error... so what were you doing JUST before the error showed up? A file sharing program? went to a particular website? open up a special program?

There is usually only a single trigger. If you can't find it, chances are you may have more viruses/spyware than what AVG picked up, so try to use the free microsoft scanner http://safety.live.com

There are a lot of things that could have caused this. I would recommend taking your computer to Best Buy, and having the Geek Squad people diagnose it.

something is seriously wrong with your computer. sounds like your processor had a general protection fault.

did you install some new software or drivers?

The physical memory dump is writing out all the stuff stored in your computers memory.

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)
