I've had them, what is your question?
I really didn't care for them. You couldn't hold mine, they would pee on you and try to get away. They were a hands off sort of pet, like a fish tank.

The very first snake I ever bought as a youngster was once a ribbon snake. With that said, I don't believe they make first-rate pets for first time snake homeowners. Certain, they're effortless to take care of, but they are additionally messy, nippy and don't do good with handling. They consume fish and frogs, but avoid feeding them goldfish. Honestly, i'd endorse you get a corn snake. They hardly ever exceed 4 toes in size and are easy to control and feed. Each single ribbon snake i've ever obvious in a pet retailer used to be caught within the wild and accordingly, most are loaded with parasites. Plus, the fact that you mention the pet store owner doesn't comprehend whatever about what he's selling is an effective purpose to restrict buying whatever from him. That you may get corn snakes from breeders for below twenty bucks.

Never owned one... but my guess is it's really not something worth buying. They aren't very handleable, and "cheap" snakes like that (and green snakes) are usually caught out of the wild and you are really taking a gamble that you actually get a healthy one, combine that with the fact that it's Petco, and your chances of getting a quality pet are very slim. Unfortunately animals like that are often considered "cheap and disposable" by a lot of pet shops and/or their suppliers. If you really want a pet snake, try a corn snake, small boa, or ball python.
-P.S. Snakes make excellent pets! Some people do keep snakes for the wrong reasons, to show off their "cool" pet, and yes, they are wild animals. But reptiles, when kept properly, are happy, fun and interesting pets, providing you get a captive bred specimen.

They are a good small snake to have as a pet. Like an other new pet, you should do your homework on this type of snake(very gentile with continued handling), easy to feed(insects, earthworms,at first, moving up to pinkie & later fuzzy mice/minnows/guppies),small enclousure(10-20 gal. aquarium). Again, like any pet, you should make sure of your reasons for wanting one. It is a living creature that will be totally dependent on you for everything. It's not a passing fancy.

Snakes are stupid pets. Animals aren't something "cool" to show off. Peopel that keep birds and snakes and other wild animals are mental.

Dogs and cats are different - they have developed a relationship with humans -- something a snake will never do.

I used to get a HUGE King Snake, and take it down to the garden!! King's are REAL cool! They are immune to poisonous snake bites, and will kill a poisonous snake in a fight!! Good to have around!
