I think you're confusing President Bush with the media. They tend to report what ever topic they deem the hottest.

Bush forgot about binLaden ten minutes after 9-11 happened.
All he wanted was a reason to invade Iraq to "finish' what his daddy started during Desert Storm, and because LimpDick Cheney wants all the OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies can get richer and richer and richer.....
George H.W. Bush, immediately after leaving the office of the Presidency, formed a consulting firm called the Carlyle Group (different reports may spell it differently). Investors included former Bush cabinet members such as James Baker, and there was also a $2.5 million investment from a Saudi Arabia family, the binLadens.
Immediately after 9-11, U.S. government planes whisked many Saudi Arabian families out of the country, secretly. Could it be possible that they also whisked Osama INTO this country at the same time? His family allegedly owns a huge compound just outside Orlando, Florida.
Bush needed an excuse to illegally and unconstitutionally invade Iraq, a sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
Prediction: He'll invade Iran as soon as he can come up with a plausible excuse, even if he has to fabricate a terrorist attack (telling the public Iran has weapons of mass destruction won't work; we believed it once, never again).

Prediction: There will be NO TROOP WITHDRAWALS from Iraq until Cheney has a rock-solid, iron-clad arrangement in place - with the full cooperation of the new Iraqi government he helped to install - to take all of Iraq's OIL.
Prediction: Just before the 2008 elections, Bush will invent another 'terrorist attack' on the U.S., causing him to impose martial law so that there can be no change in administration.
Cheney and Bush want all of those rich oilfields for their oil company buddies. There's no way they'll let China get any of that OIL. So what if a few thousand people get killed? As the arrogant Secretary of Defense, DumbDon Rumsfeld, said at a press conference once when asked about the consequences of innocent people being casualties of war: 'STUFF HAPPENS!'

Osama bin Laden and the al Qaeda were never the real targets, in the war against terrorism, and Bush was never in charge of it. From Day One Chaney and Rumsfeld were interested in one thing and one thing only, Saddam Hussein.
At the start the "War" in Afghanistan was fought by the C.I.A. and Rumsfeld didn't like it. We had Bin Laden cornered wen the C.I.A. asked for the Mountain Div. to go in and get him Rumsfeld refused.
Bush and team didn't forget , thay were never concerned

The Bush family has connections with the Bin Laden Family.
Reagan and George H.W Bush helped train Bin Laden and gave him weapons and money.
Bush helped destroy the C.I.A's hunt for Bin Laden task force.
Bush said he "didn't care about Bin Laden, he doesn't think about Bin Laden, he hasn't even crossed my mind".
Iraq is a joke!!! if that's Bush's idea of democracy then he must be drinking again. It will be interesting to see how many nut case conservatives say how we needed to go into Iraq to liberate the Iraqi people. And we can all say the same thing "I thought we went into Iraq because Saddam had WMD's." Its funny how the story changes.
Bin Laden is George Bush's boogey man. He uses him to scare us into taking away our liberty's. If you get rid of Bin Laden then there goes Bush's boogey man.

Well the truth is they were not going for Osama or al Qaeda in the first place so there really is nothing to forget but a presidents dropping rating and the rising disapproval of government actions

I think the fact that we can't find bin laden after so long is making people nervous, so we get "distracted" by other issues to take the focus away from our blunder in Iraq and with al qaeda in general

If you truly want to know, start emailing some of the troops stationed there. Yes we're still after Bin Laden, if a fox has gone into a hole to hide, you back away and wait for it to show. As to some of the other respondents, to quote Struther Martin in Cool Hand Luke, "Morons. I am surrounded by morons!"

Another view is that Gaza is being given up as you would sacrifice a pawn in a chess game for strategic advantage. Perhaps Bin Laden is getting exactly what he wants; a shot at weakening Israel.

the real motive for even getting into the Iraq war is so we can be close to Iran to keep an eye on their nuclear weapons thing. If not for Iran, we probably would've pulled out of the war right after getting Saddam.
