History of mankind is replete with instances of the force that this belief has played in the growth of the nations which dominated the world once but fell prey to decay the moment they forgot this truth.

we LIVE HERE ON EARTH A SECOND, BUT WE SPEND ETERNITY ANSWERING FOR THAT ONE SECOND ON EARTH. WE DO THINGS HERE AND THINK WHO CARES; WE ONLY LIVE ONCE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT WE ALL HAVE FREE CHOICE. There are consequences to our acts and deeds on earth. Evil men like the leader of Enron found out the hard way and he will suffer for eternity. God will forgive any sin, but if you think it is OK like politicians and corporate leaders, they are doomed to suffer for eternity. The problem is people really think there is always time to repent or some don't feel like they are doing anthing wrong. Your actions or in actions have consequences, so it seems like evil may be winning right now. It isn't and the real force is people who stand up for their principles. Good always overcomes bad, but it may take longer than we can comprehend.

A study of the History of Mankind will show that as much evil has been done in the name of God as for any other reason. The Crusades, 9/11, abortion clinic bombings, suicide bomb attacks against Israel, the Inquisition, the Holocaust, all of these were perpetrated by people who firmly believed that they would answer to God, and bask in his full approval. As long as no-one can agree on what constitutes good or evil acts, there is no way to prevent them. That is, sadly, the Way of the World.

Funny considering how most of the wars in the world are fought by people for religious reasons.

"The more I read about man and his maniacal ruthlessness and his murderous envious scatological soul, the more I realize that he will never change. Our stupidity is immortal, nothing will change it. The same mistakes, the same prejudices, the same injustice, the same lusts wheel endlessly around the parade ground of the centuries. Immutable and ineluctable. I wish I could believe in a god of some kind but I simply cannot."

Unfortunatley Christianity of an kind is ussually used as a reason to go to war or to be a martyr. Everyone needs something to believe in, that is beyond them and gives them a reason to do what they do. This in turns creates there sense of what is right and wrong.

"If there were no God, it would be necessary to invent him."

knowing the difference between right and wrong and having a heart is the way to remove evil from the world - remove religion from the world and the world would be a eutopia.

No, I don't think it is true, because I dont think there is a god to judge us. We should have enough character ourselves to do what we ought to do.
