yeah jacobs maybe a huge problem i agree 100% with you who think that but still we have got a pretty solid team this year as long as nobody gets injured ... last year we were in the top 5 teams who had the most injured players per game or what ever thats called ... anyways with great goaltending pretty damn good D especially without Hall "i cant ******* play D" Gill also with a few more additions to the team i think many of you people who dont think they will do next year will be suprised when the season comes around ... looks like will have to wait and see.

In the sporting world is there a more loaded term than “on paper.” On paper, before the drop of the puck and a game finished, many things look soooooo gooood. Typically, the basis of “on paper” opinions are statistics, a wacky combination of numbers that are only ever properly analyzed and understood by people that were perpetually the last choice at shinny… “We’ll take the one eyed girl with figure skates and you get the stats guy.”

That said, on paper the Bruins won’t be as good a team as they had out of the gate last season.

Chara is a good pick up defensively, but in my opinion he’s not the kind of guy to quarterback a powerplay, and that’s what Boston has always built around for the last 40 years between Orr, Park and Bourque. Can Stuart do it? Maybe. Time will tell.

Up front, does Savard = Thornton? No. He doesn’t even come close, and is likely a step behind Samsonov. I’m from Calgary and watched Savard not only stink the rink out with average playmaking and terrible defensive awareness, but also acted as a cancer on the team from within. It saddens me to see him end up on my second favorite team, the B’s.

I think there are some bright spots. Boyes and Bergeron are their names. These guys are awesome and they have long careers with many goals in the future. The question is how many will be with the Bruins before they are traded away?

I feel that the internal mess of the Bruins management is not solved, and until it is I’m sad to say the Bruins are going nowhere.

Waut a second, did you forget last off-season? The B's splashed out on Zhamnov, Scatchard, etc. Same diff.

The B's have no chance in the new NHL. Look at who they signed. Chara was exposed vs. Buffy in the playoffs. Savard is just an OK player benefiting from playing with Kovalchuk.

It's why I fired the B's after they moved to the Fleece Center. It's over until Jacobs is gone.

It will be an interesting season indeed. Finally the black and gold are spending the green and yes it does seem weird that they are signing high profile FA's. The price tag on Chara can seem steep to some, but he is one of the better defenseman in the league right now and you can't possibly put him in the same category as a Nik Lidstrom, they have completely different styles and has different specialties to themselves. Chara was the #1 D-man in the FA market and we nabbed him, so way to go B's. All in all, it will be an interesting season to watch, as for the playoffs, well let's hope we have a healthy roster and solid goaltending and we could make it deep, you know what they say..."Anything can happen in the NHL."

They are in need of second scoring line and goalie is still a question over the season's long run. Though Chara has just improved their overall team D, they have overpayed him by 2 million.

At least they are spending bucks as you say but sorry, they will not make the playoffs in the East this season.

It would be nice to see the B's get past the first round. I didn't realize they were paying Chara so much. I think Ray Bourque was worth that kind of money but not Chara. At least management has woken up and realized they can't just trade away all their stars and expect to win anything. At least this is a step in the right direction. Go B's

They are spending money on players, but the wrong ones. Although they did get a good coach. Having Dave Lewis behind the bench will help but I still don't think they will make the playoffs.

Harry Sinden leaves and look at that, we're spending some green, FINALLY! They need to revamp the whole organization. I'm a true blue fan, but man I'm sick of disappointing choices that management keeps making.

7.5 million a season to Chara, makes no sense to anyone. Paying this guy that much is ludicrous he ain't that great,he's not in Lidstrom's category at all, silly move!!
