Smart. Actually it's a shame we have to spend so much money on other stuff. If people had better character and were more spiritually minded (rather than selfish and egocentric), we wouldn't have to spend so much on police, welfare, military, etc. and could focus on learning more about science, including space.
Not only is space exploration exciting and helpful in making discoveries for today, but eventually we may need another planet to inhabit. Spending the money to learn and explore today is a good investment for future generations. Since we're leaving them with trillions of dollars of debt, it's the least we can do for them.

Smart of course. Spending the money in space is by far more important than spending the money in the war in Iraq. If we want the development of the human race the space is definitely the final frontier, this planet is getting small for us.

Exploration of anything is Hit or Miss. I bet there were people in Europe asking the same question when all of those explorers were setting out on those dangers missions across the oceans.
If they hadn't taken those risks and spent that money to explore the unknown, you wouldn't be asking that question right now.
The true answer will never be known until we reach the end but my opinion is that it is worth it. A lot of experiments done in space teach things we never would have known sticking to the earth. The space program has given us satelites, look at our telecommunications now, our gps, our google earth. These things make our life much easier than 50 years ago and we will continue to make improvements.

Satellites for one are important. If we wern't spending money in space for just that reason alone than that would be stupid. We need to keep advancing in technology including space. This is the Information Age so it's easy to understand why we need to advance our knowledge.

No, racism will never die, but that isn't the reason we will always oppose him. He is nearly done ruining the economy - maybe permanently. Unemployment is still climbing and those temp Census jobs will go away very soon. He has increased wasteful Government spending several times beyond anything Bush did. The troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan - I know this because I just said goodbye to one that was going over there from my Church. He was GIVEN the Nobel prize - as was algore- for absolutely nothing. Tried to force upon us a poorly thought out Socialist healthcare plan that most Americans are to smart to accept because we know we can't afford it. We are still having occasional terrorist attacks from our enemies in Islamic countries, and while they love Obama, they still hate all the rest of us and want us dead. He IS trying to promote homosexuality and other deviant behavior over normal. He IS trying to push amnesty in a further effort to ruin our economy and defy our laws. He IS trying to bring America down to the point where we will be absorbed into the New world Order, thus destroying what took over 200 years to build and defying our Constitution in the process. Since there is no such thing as man made climate change, he hasn't "saved" the world from anything. He DId bail out large corporations with our tax money that should have been allowed to fail. You said this before and our troops are still there. He Is trying to kill important research and keep us from conquering space and expand out into the Galaxy. He IS going to kill offshore drilling which will make the price of Gasoline hit new highs thus raising the cost of all goods and services making the poor even poorer. As above, there is no Global Warming. You "deserve" nothing you don't earn. Stealing from someone else IS A CRIME even if the intent is to give that money to you. Since there are less full time jobs now, there is LESS opportunity for you to become anything other than the future unemployed and a slave to welfare. Wasted money in a futile attempt to stimulate an economy he is committed to destroying with the same action. He IS speaking out against true and loyal Americans who are not blind to what he is trying to do and are trying to save the country. He Is helping nations that hate us and are trying to bring us down. Correct - he Is a Communist and doesn't deserve to be in the White House. Correct - he is killing us to further his ambitions of a Global Empire. He HAS apologized where no apology was needed in order to make us look bad to the world.

That's a tough question to answer. I think we're smart. We're learning a lot about our solar system, expanding our knowledge and horizons. I don't see us going to another star anytime soon (they're just too far away), but it would be nice to eventually see a manned mission to Mars also, since human explorers can simply do some things that robots and sensors cannot.

Yeah we are smart. We won't be able to stay on Earth forever. Also, the technology we develop for space travel can be used on Earth.

People in this world are starving, the USA has this huge deficit.. and we are spendng money on space. It kills me. Space exploration has done nothing to help our country. It is a folly.
