Is it because of Jennifer Granholm?

qwerty456, if you look up the requirements for the google jobs they have specific standards and most of the people that have the requirements already have jobs.
She is just going to attract people from other states to get these jobs.
She did no help what so ever by bringing Google to Ann Arbor.
Her plan basically back fired on her. :(

I don't think it is because of Granholm. It was a series of events that happened years before she even thought of taking office. The Big Three have been in trouble for quite a while. The problem with Michigan is that the economy is largely based on one industry - automotive. So when that goes down the tubes, everything else goes along with it. Michigan needs new industries to rely on. I think Granholm is trying to do that. For example, she got Google to come to Ann Arbor. They will be hiring around 1000 people in the area. That is just a starting point, though. Michigan has a long way to go.

Are the majority of politicians Dems? Sorry, couldn't help myself since Granholm is one.
Of course, if an area is unwilling to make the changes needed to attract new business, then new business won't come. The quality of potential employees for the new business could be another problem. The weather? I can't imagine moving there (because of the winters), even if my dream job was there.

As it always is, she's trying to clean up the mess the former Republican govenor left behind. She has made several unpopular decisions and I can't say I support all of them, but I wouldn't have wanted to deal with the mess she was handed. DeVos, her opposition, farms his work out oversesas. Just think if he offered those jobs to those of us in Michigan instead! I was upset with Granholm for many reasons, but after reading up on the dossier of DeVos, I will be voting for her again. I suggest you do some searching yourself.
