I agree - especially the strong first goal which gave Italy a moral boost so that the teamdid not have to face the German team in Penalty Kicks ...And I think Fabio Grosso is the most elegant soccer player and man (next to Pierce Brosnan - aka 007) I've ever seen.

Grosso and Del Piero's goals were as terrific as they were quick and unexpected. I think we all were anticipating penalty kicks when Grosso suddenly curled that shot into the German net.

But I must add, the most elegant missed goal has to be the penalty kick taken by Trezeguet in the final. Let him feel the pain of Baggio in 1994 and Di Biagio in 1998 when they missed their crucial penalty kicks.

You are absolutely right!
Those goals showed Italians' vision, technique, teamwork, and determination. That match was the best match during last World Cup. The two teams which deserved the cup, but Italy was more experienced.

my reply is for allezlesblues. Are you telling us the one goal Zidane got on the penalty shot was better? Face it, France didn't stand a chance with the experience , talent and indurane that the Italian team has. They would it needed 11 Zidanes of 8 years ago to even come close!!!

A lot of beautiful goals by many teams but my favourite has to be Zambrotta's goal!

Those two goals made Italy deserve that win, the team was able to connect, and score, and not give the germans possesion of the ball..

Definitely!

Alessandro del Piero's nickname is "Pinturicchio", who was a Renaissance painter. They call him so because he's considered to be an artist with the ball.

Anyway, I must say Fabio Grosso did a good job, too.
