Is it possible that a child could write off one of their parents as not being their parent? If so, then how?

OH I wish.I haven't spoken to mine in over 2 years. and since I dont know how to "disown" them... I had a lawyer take out a will for me.

This will states that if I die, my parents get none of my money. If I get hurt in an accident and can't make decisions for myself, my parents are NOT allowed to talk to my doctors, they are not allowed to make any medical or financial decisions for me. Now that I am married, my husband is my sole beneficiary, and he has financial and medical power of attorney if I get sick or debilitated. If both my husband and I are in an accident, then these rights move to his family - NEVER EVER mine...

I hope this helps. For the chick in the first answer - NOT EVERY PARENT GIVES THEIR CHILD A LOVING HOME!

Yes, it is possible to do. You need to get in touch with social services or DCFS to find out how this is done if you're under 18. If you're an adult you can go through social security and get a name change if you want. I'd be careful before doing something permanent since you could possibly regret it later.

I did it to both my parents. I just dont talk to them or have anything to do with them. It just sort of came about naturally.

If they have done something that is really crappy, dont have anything to do with them, they will only ruin your life every chance they get for the rest of their lives.
