Summary written by Rick Gregory {rag.apa@email.apa.org}

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a wonderful creation from the musical stage show by Richard O'Brien! A story of creation, love, hate, adventure, and, most of all, sex, the story begins in Denton, Ohio as Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon), after getting engaged (Dammit Janet), travel to see "the man who began it," but wind up at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite alien from the planet of Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania (Sweet Transvestite). And they meet Riff Raff (Richard O'Brien), Magenta (Patricia Quinn), and Columbia (Nell Campbell) which leads to "doing the Time Warp again!" They discover they have been there on a "special night." Frank's creation is to be born! As Rocky has been revealed (Sword of Damocles / I Can Make You A Man), rebel Eddie (Meat Loaf), Frank's last-recent creation, ponders in on his motorcycle (Hot Patootie-Bless My Soul) whom Frank kills. In comes Dr. Everett Von Scott (Jonathan Adams, RIP), he's come for Eddie (Eddie's Teddy) which results in the discovery of Eddie's deceased body. Frank chases Janet and Brad and Dr. Scott chase Frank (Planet Schmanet Janet), which results in everybody (but Frank) getting frozen. Enter the floor show (Rose Tint My World / Don't Dream It / Wild & Untamed Thing) which then turns into the horrifying death of both Frank and Columbia die and the castle's blasting off! Brad, Janet, and Dr. Scott survive and leave with torn clothes and battered bodies (Superheroes, only in the UK version). This leads to Shock Treatment, the very-unsuccessful sequel with the continuing adventures of Brad and Janet.

Comments:
Those who gave this gem a low score - Please! Crawl back in your cardboard life and stay there! This film bubbles with zest, wit, subtle humor, raw humor, strange scenes, great songs and a huge host of memorable characters. Most of the characters are drawn as sharply as if a straight razor...well, not straight...as if a razor had been used. Not intended for the super straight part of our culture, which is why it usually plays at midnight shows, but you'll notice that it's been playing steadily for 30 years now, especially along the American coasts, which is a better record that almost anything else you can think of (excluding Gome With The Wind in Atlanta, a single town). I even took my mother to one of the 15 or so theater viewings I've attended. She thought the dressed up audience was a little strange, but she found out why they were so enthusiastic and quite liked the show. It's just a time slip....

Hope this helps!

Obviously, by the plot, it's not suitable for kids. As for the movie, if you're a fan of musicals, or crazy comedies that don't make much sense, you'll love it. There's a lot of great music as for a notoriously transsexual and energetic performance by Tim Curry. His superb acting in this movie makes it a pleasure to watch. The story is really only important for the first... ten minutes or so. A stranded couple take refuge in a distant castle in Transylvania, owned by a transsexual professor, who creates a man, Rocky Horror. It's a very strange and unforgettable experience. You'll either love it or hate it.

OK; Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, etc. Great movie, been around for 30 years.

It's a spoof on every horror movie ever made before it, and it's very camp. It's also a spoof on a bunch of the sci-fi/alien movies prior.

By today's standards, it's okay for kids to watch. I saw it at 16. It's about this couple that break down in the middle of nowhere, and end up asking for help at this castle run by a sex-crazed alien. There's no obvious sex in it; just allusions to it, and its soundtrack is pretty 70s glam-rock, with Meatloaf.

Practically indescribable; I used to go every Friday and Saturday night and see it at the midnight movie.

i just love ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW! its a cult movie... and it is still shown in some theatres sometimes and ppl dress like the characters and use these props to throw at the screens and stuff... it has so much participation with it in theatres... it is a musical... ok the main characters are played by TIM CURRY, SUSAN SARANDON, BARRY BOSTWICK, RICHARD O'BRIEN, PATRICIA QUINN, NELL CAMPBELL. AND MEAT LOAF is even in it... its about these two who are in love (characters of susan sarandon and barry bostwick) are going away to get married and they run into some car trouble and they end up at this mad scientists house (house of the character of tim curry) and they stay and he is making a man named rockey. well (tim curry) is actually a transexual. so thats the jist of the story line. no i would not allow kids to watch it... its acutally rated R. anyway, anymore questions go to www.rockyhorror.com/
hope u have fun if u watch it...

NO NO NO NO it is NOT for kids @_@

other than that it's a pretty funny movie. But it is Sooooo not for kids under 16.. or older even. it had transsexuals and cross dressing.. lots of bad language. Lots of "almost nudity"

It's a bout a newlywed couple that get stuck in a storm and stay the night with this group of "strange" people.

Back in the 80's, it was like a cult classic. People dressed up, acted out the characters, took props to the theater. The movie itself isn't that good. There's a transexual in it, so it might not be the best for kids to watch. They wouldn't like it anyway.

it was a play first, then a movie. it has 50's type music soundtrack and a silly plot combining horror movie stereotypes with cross dressing transvestite alien guy. how old are you? it's lots of fun if you are old enough. the audience sings along, and chants out replies to cues onscreen, but if you are under 15 it could be weird as there are gay references and some silly sexual stuff.

Boy, are you in for a surprise.

No, it is not OK for children.

And the movie is really only good if the crowd is good.

More than that, I will not say, or it will spoil your newbie experience.

Good luck.

(Actors are people like Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Meat Loaf, etc..)

It's good for starters.. it's a bit weird in the fact it's about transexuals.. umm folks. Tim curry, and susan surandon star in it. This couple gets lost and finds this castle home to dr. frankenfurter. but he's a transexual with lots of weird experiments. try it.. you might like it.
