It didn't take too long for the other guys on the tour to figure out that if they could just get his server back over the net they would be in decent shape. He just doesn't return well enough to threaten to break the top guys often enough, and he just hasn't put enogh work into rounding out his game. He's never going to be a serve and vollyer, but he needs to work on his net game more as well as his return of server.
He may be one of those guys who got to the top a bit too quickly for his own good. Oh well, I can't say that I'd be any more motivated.

He isn't good enough to be a great player anymore. When he first went pro, he won because no one could handle his 150mph serve and crushing forehand. Eventually, players adapted and realized Andy Roddick doesn't even know what a backhand is. All you have to do to beat Roddick is to hit drop shots or hit it to his backhand side. He is terrible at the net, and if you hit it to his backhand side, he'll run around the and hit a forehand, leaving the other side of the court wide open. Finally, Andy Roddick doesn't posses the thinking skills to be #1. All he ever does is hit it hard. He doesn't think about anything except "Let's see how fast this forehand goes". He needs to learn how the game of tennis is supposed to be played.

Ever since he made the break with coach Brad Gilbert things have gone downhill for Roddick. I don't know the reasons behind the break up but was definitely not the best thing that has happened in roddicks career.

if you look past his serve, he isn't really THAT good. I think he just depends WAY too much on his serve to back him up. I agree that he should pick up the pace. He should focus more on the moment than the actual game, which is what I think he's doing.

He needs to find a better coach besides his brother!
Other players don't fear him as much anymore, they expect the heavy serves.
He needs to improve on the rest of his game, and FAST because I want to see him back in the top 10 ASAP!

he's all power and pretty much 1 dimensional, and that won't allow him to compete with the top players. He needs to learn more elements to the game so he can attack his opponents weaknesses easier

He's too arrogant to be great -- he lacks respect for his opponents and they take advantage of that...
