Can anyone tell me a good starter book for Feng Shui? I don't want a book that goes too much comprehensive detail and bogs down the reason for wanting to learn a little about the subject. I just want to learn the basic of feng shui. I can alwaus go into the comprehensive parts later.

fengshui is not a belief - thus it is not a religion. it is also not a philosophy, though, taoism has adopted the practice of fengshui. fengshui is not a part of taoism. sorry, but i think i just need to clarify that up. the jade plant or any other plant has nothing to do with your finances. in fengshui, how you use the spaces in your house is critical. this means that there are spaces with good energy, and spaces with bad energy. the characteristics of these energies are not general but distinct and unique. these energies is something that cannot be sensed nor felt - it is not the ambience of a room. but it is there. it can only be calculated with some fengshui methods. so theoretically, when you live in a room, you use the energy that is in the room - thus, your life becomes whatever energy is in that room. in fengshui, this energy is something that cannot be made good, if it is bad. sorry, but i dont believe in remedies - i think after taking many fengshui courses under some fengshui masters, i know better how to achieve good fengshui than using remedies, which can do more harm than good. it is difficult to assess something that lacks data/ information. it is also an impossible thing to suggest to move around objects in your house. i think the best suggestion i can give you is try to rent out your house, and with the money that you earn, rent a room elsewhere. the logic here is you may not be lucky in your house, but you can be luckier in other houses. this actually works. because having a main door facing that is good for you can actually make your life better. you can tweak by moving houses and taking notes as you go along. take note of compass directions where the main door faces - this determines what kind of life you will have living in that house. then the position and location of the stove/ oven determines your financial health. good luck!

133.3 at your local library should help. (Find the books with that number on the spine) Or if all else fails, "Feng Shui for Dummies" would be good as well since most of their books are written in a clear fashion and do not have to be read in a linear way.

starter books... do you mean authentic chinese fengshui? because the real stuff is really about a collection of theories, each has its own system and calculations. if a book tells you to put flowing water at the right side then money and suitors will come in to your life, then that is not fengshui. even if it tells you to paint your room red to attract certain energies, it too is not fengshui. fengshui is calculating what degree to face your main door so that you have a good life. and how to activate the mountain and water in your house to optimize health and wealth of your home. when you build a house according to fengshui, your house follow what fengshui dictates... it is not the other way around. if fengshui follow your house, then you do a lot of renovations and remedies. i for one do not believe in remedies, because all it does is negate the bad into a neutral, which still is bad - it does not make it better in a sense, until you change it totally. in making a house work for fengshui, i make sure that by doing such a design it achieves agt least 3 or more theories. so at least when 1 theory fail to achieve its purpose, the other 2 will.

starter, hmmm... look no further. here is a basic one:
1). get the kua of your birthdate. decide what is the 4 good directions and 4 bad directions (8 mansion theory)
2). calculate the flying star of your house (flying star theory)
3). put the bedroom, living room, bedroom, or where you stay most room, and main door (not gate) at your (or the main breadwinner of the house) good locations
4). be sure that the bedroom has a good flying star combination
5). put the kitchen, toilet, hallways and stairs at the bad locations
6). make sure that the kitchen has a good flying star combination (there is a secret regarding how to attract money here, only my master can share to you www.fengshuisos.com)
7). put flowing/ or still water where you need to activate water and a rock to activate mountain (flying star theory)

that is basic, below is for further enhancements:

8). further enhance the house with water (water placement, including water dragons, for money and lessen bad fortune)
9). see to it that each door of the house has a good direction/ degree for good health (i think it is xuan kong da gua theory)
