Why are all countries so jelous of the Italian soccer team?

Is it because the players are what we would all like to be? Rich, Famous, world champions and have more women then we will ever have?

2. Those that wish that they were Italian

Get a grip. Rich - I don't think so except a select few given the overall number of people of Italian descent, and if you look at the 100 or even top 500 wealthiest internationally, few are Italians. Famous - a few but more that are infamous - there is a difference. World Champions - this year, yes, but hopefully this world cup didn't end the history of the sport so there will no doubt be other world champions as there have been in the past. And women - well the ratio of women to men has always favored women. If your speaking of how many women a man could possibly have - well frankly, I think most of us women would prefer that number be low - say one!

I don't think it's jealousy (heck, any world cup player is rich and famous and will have more women than they can ever handle), it's more like the Italians are a sad bunch for resorting to elbowing and racist insults. A team just won't earn international support by doing that kinda stuff, or having a match rigging problem in their national league (4 teams caught for rigging including Juventus).

I hope their bashing is really due to the fact that they are jealous of the Italian soccer team.

You know, I'm an Italian living in the USA. Most of the people I have met here, when I say I'm Italian, have words of appreciation for my country -- for our food, our fashion, our fine arts, our sports cars, even our soccer. Granted, Italy isn't heaven on earth, and we also have some "bugs", like Mafia, although it's been hyped thanks to movies like "The Godfather" and "Goodfellas".

I have also traveled a lot all around Europe, and in every country I visited people had a friendly attitude towards Italy and Italians. Yeah, even in France ;-)

A few weeks ago, I got on Yahoo Answers and I found out that there is, in fact, a lot of hatred towards Italians. I didn' expect foreigners to consider us "fascists" and "racists". Maybe because I grew up in Italy and learned the true history of the Italian Resistance movement, who actually killed Mussolini and fought against him and the Nazi occupants, freeing almost half of the country by themselves. In these days I've learned a lot of new stereotypes that allegedly "define" us. It has been a good educational experience and very flattering, I must say ;-)

Its funny, but that is what happens when you have an incredibly talented group of men who were able to overcome their individual egos to win the world cup. Additionally they are the most attractive team that was on the pitch. They worked hard to overcome a scandal & attempted suicide of a former national team player. A majority of them are also family men; married with children. I feel like whoever had won the World Cup would be taking abuse from everyone else.

Because they are great footballers:)I admire them much,with all those match-fixing scandals,one of their best friend(Pessotto) trying to suicide,with all the pressure,they were united,and played the most amazing football,proving that italian football can be trusted!About their women,well almost all of them are married with 2-3 children,or in long term relation-ships,the italian stallion is just a myth.:))
Everyone is jelous because their team didn't made it!But Italy deserved it,so let's not put in shadow their victory(as german and french newspapers did)!!!

Well, there are several reasons:

1. They usually play defensively. Many people do not like that because they want to see more & more goals. But it is their way and their art to win, isn't it? Soccer is not only about attack, but also about defense. Besides, a goal is very interesting because usually the process to score it was very hard.

2. They often use "dirty techniques" such as diving, provoking referee, pulling shirts, etc.

3. Italians have charming faces. Girls like them.

Get your head out of wherever it is. Nobody is jealous of the Italian soccer team. Why the hell do you even think that? Just because people say they cheat, does not mean they are jealous. People say those things about Italy, because it is the truth, not out of jealousy.

In some ways, the final was played too early. Germany vs Argentina should have been the final not the quarters. Italy put on a fantastic display by winning their only shoot out but they werent a spot on Argentina. They will win it next time, well done to Italy though.
