Best Constipation Cures

I'm guessing you don't drink enough water or eat enough roughage.

Day 1: Avoid coffee and tea. Drink water. Eat a bowl of All Bran type cereal (at least 12 grams of fibre per serving). Eat at least a few more fruits than you normally would, and have a big salad for lunch. Avoid starches like bread, rice, potatoes, etc. Generally avoid over-processed food and give your digestive system a chance to catch up with itself. If by the end of day 1 you haven't had any success, have another bowl of All Bran cereal at bedtime with a large glass of water. You could also try adding 4-5 prunes somewhere in here during the day.

Day 2: 9 times out of 10, by this morning you'll be a much happier camper, but if you still aren't having any success, drink more water, eat a few prunes, have another bowl of All Bran cereal, and chase this down with 1-2 cups of coffee. If this doesn't work, you may need to resort to a laxative tea, such as senna leaf, but I doubt you'll need to. This works like a charm, and it's much gentler than laxatives. Also, do yourself a favour and don't fight the urge when it hits you.

Day 3: You know, it probably wouldn't hurt the digestive system to try this diet for a few more days to get itself straightened around. A week of eating high-quality food and drinking water is NOT going to damage anything.

Prunes or prune juice. If they make you gag try aloe vera juice.

If it's persistent see a doctor...I just got diagnosed with a disease called celiacs which is a severe intolerance to gluten. It (the disease) wreaks havoc on the digestive system with everything from IBS, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting...the list goes on and all associated with eating gluten (a protein found in wheat, rye barley and oats). It's a very common disease...1:20 people have it.

You got alot of good suggestions: water, fiber, exercise, veggies and some fruits. You obviously have a sluggish bowel, either from years of misuse in eating or back problems. There are various herbs that are specific for this. Go to your local health food store. You won't regret it.

there really is no cure for it. One way to help is fiber capsules of they have drink mixes or find the foods that are inriched with fiber. Prunes work to or milk of magnesia or any laxitave if none of this works you may want to see your doc. You might have what they call irrital bowel syndrome
