I think he could be a black man, but the original character in the comics was white, so it's all based on that.

Because Superman was " created " by a couple of white, Jewish guys in the 30's. If Supes were conceived now, he might've been black. I did some research - in the comics, before Krypton blew up, it had a population of Black Kryptonians on a place called " Vathlo Island ". Other races didn't make it into popular cultural media until the 60's ( Example: " Lt. Uhura " in Star Trek ) It was mostly because the world wasn't ready - unfortunately - for a African - American hero yet. Or an Asian, Latin, etc.

Is this supposed to be a racially charged question ment to envoke hate? It's not about his skin color, which you obviously noticed right off, but about what he stands for. Look at Blade. Blade has been around for a long time in old comic books, and has always been black. To even things out, DC comics have even gone as far as makeing The Green Lantern a black guy. Focusing on skin color just keeps the hate alive on all sides.

Because he was a character invented in the 50's, when everyone was Leave It To Beaver/Lassie/squeaky clean goodness and terrible decorating. He also has to be muscular and chiseled, and Lois has to be thin and pretty and totally helpless, not to mention really stupid.

There are some women that are Super---not just men. There are some men who are considered Heros---not all are white. It's not the color or the gender but more importantly what they stand for. I wonder what people would say if everyone in the world was the same color.

Why is he tall? Why does he have blue eyes? Why is he a man?
Why is he American? Maybe someone who is bothered by someone with a slightly advantageous quality has an inferiority complex. We all have challenges that we need to overcome.
