i'm looking for the featured article about how movies can cause depression? or something like that. i didnt get to read the article. but said something about false perception of life i think...

Regarding your specific article, it seems it may be a local media headline. If you could say what area you saw the headline, which town, or which paper, it would assist in finding that article.
I haven't had any luck finding anything in the national media available online regarding this subject. I found a few parenting blogs that talked about how horror movies caused depression.

I can see how expecting life to work out like movies might set people up for disappointment and that could lead to depression, but I think at some point in a person's development, they naturally learn to discern reality from fantasy and can learn to not set up the unrealistic expectations.

As far as the horror films, I think the parents may have it the other way around. Instead of the movies causing the depression, the pre-existing depression sets up an attraction to the horror films.
