I know the answer is x^2=-6y (or that is the given answer), but I need to know how they got it. Thanks.

you must know the vertex as well.

if the coordinate of the vertex is (h,k) and p is the distance between the vertex and focus.

the formula for parabola is 4p(y-k)=(x-h)^2
