When I was just five years old, I saved up all my money and a box-top or two, and sent away for a Captain Crunch piggy-bank. I waited and waited for it to arrive and when at last it did, I was unhappy to discover that I no longer had anything to put in it. You think my dad would've given me a nickel or two for seed, but he wasn't that sort of dad. I learned an important lesson that day: my dad is kind of an asshole.
I have never sent away any amount of money for an Al Gore piggy-bank. I don't imagine many people have.
