I was watching one of those "most brutal whatever" videos, and they had this hockey fight where the players actually were pounding on the refs! I cant imagine this happening to many times, but it was so bad, they had to call in outside refing to break it up.....can anyone help?

In 1996 during a match between University of Prince Edward Island and U. of Moncton the ref was placed in a headlock and slammed into the boards and then punched and speared with a stick by UofM players and their assistant coach over a disputed goal. They then proceeded to smash the glass with the net hold-down bars in order to get at the trapped goal judge. Police intervened and the players and coach involved were charged with assault and banned from organized hockey for life.

I have heard of a few players who punched a ref but never more than one in any game.
Those who did were banned from hockey as far as I know and none of the incidents happened in the NHL.

i was at a college hockey game. And a guy ran right in2 the ref. and hurt his leg it was great!! And I didnt like the ref at all!! so i was just laughing it was great!!

It was a universty hockey game and it was brutal. I have had one player swing his stick at me. He missed and thus looked like an ***.
