While he may be a BIT stubby, he's definitely not overweight. But I'm glad someone in this world cares about the weight problems....

NO NOT EVEN. Overweight children today are a major health problem in the United States. Fortunately your son is not overweight. Going to one of the most respected websites on the internet that of the American Diabetes Association http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp and then going to their section on Weight Loss and then to the section on Are you at risk for Diabetes? They have a BMI calculator http://www.diabetes.org/weightloss-and-exercise/are-you-at-risk.jsp

According to that calculator your son has a BMI of 22.5 which is under the 25 and in the good range.

For more information on teen obesity the ADA has a huge reference set of information.

Hope this helps.

I think he's fine. My son is 12 a few inches shy of 5 feet and weighs about 100 pounds. Last year at the pediatrician I asked about the budda belly he developed and she assured me it's normal, once he grows taller it'll go away and I noticed it with other teenage boys too. He came in at the 50%tile for everything too. Make sure he gets some exercise activities and a half way healthy diet and he;ll be great. I'm still waiting for him to grow tall....lol.

Not as long as it was not a sudden whight gain like within in a month Than you would need to see his Dr and do some testing for diabieties or thyroid. If not than do not worry my son is 15 /5'7" and 160

It doesn't sound like he is. Even if he does get a little chunky, don't worry about it. My brother got chunky around that age. Then he hit a growth spurt, grew to 6'2" and got overly skinny. Now he is 17 and can eat anything and is still too skinny.

Go to http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx
it will ask for your kids age height and weight and calculate your kids b.m.i. to tell you if he is overweight and if is a health concern. I tested it on me first and it told me what I expected. Good luck. Ok after putting this up I calculated it with the b.m.i. calculator and it came out that his weight was healthy.

He might have a little extra weight, but not even close to obese. If he is muscular, I wouldn't worry at all.

No he is not. But according to the Ideal Weight Calculator, http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm, other people of his Age, Height, Weight and Gender would describe their ideal weight as 108lbs. ^__^
