Why do modern poets take inspirations from Classical Mythology?

Question

Classical Mythology as in Greek and Roman Mythology.
Modern poets as in poets that compose poems in English, from 19th-21st century.
Please no obscure and rude answers. This is for a project, so please submit something educational and appropriate.

Maybe because everyone knows at least something about classical mythology, and the poet is more easily able to get his or her point across. There is also the fact that humans are humans, and no matter how long we survive as a species, we will always be the same in the fundamentals. We will always be getting angry at each other, or falling in love, or grappling with our own emotions and how to express them (for an example).

Because much of the classical mythology deals with issues that we are still dealing with today. The story if Icarus & Daedalus-Unbridled ambition, Odyssesus- The eternal quest and the return home, Narcissus-The vanity of man. There are many other themes of life that are dealt with in these poems and stories which are just as relevant today as when they were originally told.

Greek and Roman mythology do such a fantastic job covering the human condition, that nearly any emotion, human fault, or strength has been personified in at least one classical myth.

I disagree. quite, the in basic terms "similarity" is they're both polytheistic. it is genuinely a twist of destiny. you in basic terms have 2 options, the different being monotheism! The gods and goddesses themselves are very custom-particular. Hinduism has gods and goddesses with elephant heads, different fingers, and distinct India-particular symbols. They exist in a non secular way it fairly is quite different from the Greeks. The Greek gods were in fact immortal human beings with supernatural powers. you are able to make an argument that they both had gods symbolizing fertility, warfare, understanding, etc... yet what else would they represent? What else is there? The similarities are in basic terms the outcome of human similarities.
