Is there an almanac site that specifically gives that information?

My first find is a site that tells you the value of a dollar in years ranging from 1790 to 2005. It compares using things like CPI, GDP, Unskilled wage among other things.

The second site linked below has a 'News of the past.' You can put in a date and it gives you news and other information. Tony Bennett was born in 1926 and it shows the prices for: Milk, Bread, New Car, Gas and a New House. There is also a average yearly wage!

Use the third link to put in your custom date and get the news from that time in the past, including the prices of the day as well!
