my best friend moved a couple months ago. we still call eachother and she comes to visit often, but do friendships last when one friend moves away? do you think we can still stay friends?

If you're truly friends, absolutely. But like with every relationship you have to work at it. Call, write letters, email and visit when you can. I have a childhood friend.... We met in 6th grade and were instantly best friends. In 9th grade my parents divorced and I moved out of state with my dad. That was 35 years ago and that friend and I are closer now than ever before. We only get to see each other once every few years. But are in touch weekly. Our bond has grown stronger and stronger over the years. One piece of advice though: Share in the "leaning on the other" category. If one friend is always the listener and the other is always the one who supports...it will become unbalanced. Take the time to each share in the listening department. I know it's tough right now. But good friends are hard to come by, so do your best to keep in touch. Best to you both!

My best friend moved to Texas 2yrs ago. We are still best friends. We talk daily via phone. We also get together on POGO and play games. It kinda feels like we are closer when we do interactive things like that together. She visits a couple times a year. I really feel that as close as we things will not change. Missing each other is hard though. Good luck to you and your friend.

Yes, you can still be friends. I have had friends move away and I have not seen them in person in years but the minute I got this computer, we found each other again and we still are friends. Once you have a friend, that friend will always be your friend and your mind will not forget them!

A TRUE FRIENDSHIP WILL WITHSTAND ANY DISTANCE. I HAVE A GREAT FRIEND THAT I HAVEN'T SEEN IN A YEAR AND A HALF-SHE LIVES IN ENGLAND--I CAN FEEL IT IN MY HEART WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG, OR I JUST START THINKING ABOUT HER ALOT. I JUST EMAIL HER OR CALL HER AND WE PICK UP RIGHT WHERE WE LEFT OFF AS THOUGH WE ARE SITTING TOGETHER AND NO TIME HAS PAST AT ALL. THERE IS A SAYING "A TRUE FRIEND IS LIKE AN ANGEL YOU DON'T HAVE TO SEE THEM TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE THERE".

Yes...I have two friends who have moved away. I sometimes go months without talking to them, but they are still my true friends!
