They are synonyms, but awareness might indicate a deeper appreciation of what the conscious mind perceives.

Generally, consciousness implies some sort of reasoning, as opposed to just being aware of something, but I'm sure many philosophers have used the two terms in many different ways. Semantics in philosophy can often be pretty ambiguous.
