Define "ethical soccer" and name a team who plays it.
The demotion of some Italian clubs has nothing to do with the "cheating" on the pitch. The players aren't being punished for their cheating as you say. They don't have anything to do with that. Unethical were some high officials of those clubs who fixed some matches. And they have been punished.
And now please don't come up with a "eeeeewwww what an unethical country Italy is" because I'm sure your country isn't an example of virtue. Scandals happen everywhere. Thank God in Italy it only affected scoccer. It could have been worse.

How ironic that most of the players on that World Cup team will be bought up by other clubs that just can't wait to get these extraordinary men in their clutches and into their clubs. Give me a break; biased much about Italian soccer? Why don't you just blame all the players for the actions of the leadership of the clubs. And the Italian team doesn't do anything that you won't see each and every other team doing. Get over it; being jealous is not attractive.

The players are the victims in the match fixing scandal! There are dozens of teams in Italy, and the rest of the world where these players are WANTED!!!! The italians do not cheat any more than anyone else. I think they just get a bad wrap from other countries because they are so hard to score against let alone beat and it is very frustrating when you team is playing against the best defence in the world!!! Without a doubt a worthy WC winning team that is unbeaten in 26 games, thats enough to frustrate any football fan!

As you can survey in many of the answers here obviously submitted by Italians, the people of Italy, despite their numerous and manifold achievements in history, are still a deeply insecure and childish people. The machismo rampant in nearly all Meditterrean cultures that will not tolerate blows of any kind to the honour of family, nation and self (the reason Zidane lost it for the French, incidentally) only allows the Italians to see how they have been wronged and blinds them to the wrong they do to others. The Gospel message about removing the log in one's own eye before complaining about the splinter in the eye of the other, let's not forget, was intended for just such an audience. Italians may wax eloquently about the many grievances they have endured on their way to questionable victory, the blows to honour they have taken on this path, but they will not examine their own actions and they will not admit the inevitable and unsavoury conclusion that such an examination must yield: they are a bunch of pusallanimous weenies. Italians don't play ethical soccer because they lack the appropriate level of self-criticism for that to take place.

The thruth is that the same italians kept the scandal to be 'only in italy' when at the same time, when the scandal was shown, the italians had, much before, already fixed the world cup, and certain incompetent referees (so that I do not say cheating referees) such as Medina Cantalejo were included to favour the italians

every single team insults other teams.. saddly, it's part of the game..
and also, a lot of the players in juve, lazio, and fiorentina are going to be changing teams, so I doubt they will stay playing for serie B.

for what i know match fixing doesnt onl happen in italy. diving doesnt only happen in italy. but if one player goes down too easily or there is even one matched fixed in italy (not your country or place where you live), the whole world goes crazy. what will u guys do if we win euro 08, burn yourselves that an italian victory is pure agony for you. i think u australian dont know anything about football. the world game is not played with your oval balls, and you dont run around with it in your hands.

have you heard the saying: "The problem is not that you lie, the problem is that I believe"
Well, referees should be nmore attentive to their tricks. Now if they can cheat and not get caught, kudos to them
