I've used, taught, and written about hypnosis for over 20 years. I've always learned a lot by hearing about the experiences others have had with hypnosis. Please share yours. Thanks!

If hypnosis really worked the people that used it would control the world.

I know that you cannot make a person do what they normally wouldn't with hypnosis.
But you can Influence the way they would
Vote
Donate money
Support or back another
not support or back another
provide help to "volunteer"
and many other ways that hypnosis could be exploited,

IF IT REALLY WORKED

I have not been hypnotized, but my mom was about 3 years ago to help her stop smoking. It worked for awhile, but she is back to smoking a couple packs a week now. When she first had it done, I must admit it was kinda funny. She came home (it was one where a whole room had it done in like a hour or 2 hour session), and I asked her if she was ready to stop smoking. She excitedly yelled "Yes! I am read to stop smoking!". When I asked her if she wanted a ciggerette she would again get very animated and say "No! Smoking is BAD!". I can't help it, I found it amusing. I think it took about 2 months for the effects to wear off.

Not me, but my Dad was hypnotized. It was just for fun though, he knew the hypnotist. The hypnotist put a thick sewing needle through that stretch of skin between your index finger and your thumb, and it didn't bleed or leave a mark because the hypnotist told him not to bleed or be injured. He was sitting in a chair that was nailed to the floor and he had my Dad raise his arms and told him that they were steel beams. Then his two friends that were there propped themselves on his arms one at a time. He had it filmed, it was amazing, and very real.

I have hypnotized people with the stories of Mesmer. He was a fascinating dude. If you haven't studied him... its worth your time.

About your question, I use the deep relaxation of self-hypnosis as the best cure for headaches.
