Why does the American league seem to have the National leagues number lately. Is it true the Am. league has won 10 straight All Star games? Why such domination?

American League teams are typically constructed around the "Big Hitter" (see David Ortiz), while most national league teams are built around "Small Ball" (Bunting/Stealing - see David Eckstein). Using the above theory, National League pitchers don't see the same quality hitters consistently that the American League Pitchers do, therefore their numbers are typically a bit better than they would be in the AL.

As far as the All-Star dominence, add a bit of skill, and a lot of luck. No way there should be that big of a discrepency even Tampa Bay beats the Yankees & Red Sox once in a while. Must be a bit of old fashioned baseball luck for the AL.

It's fairly simple - the AL currently has a higher concentration of good talent than does the NL.

The Hardball Times recently had a 3-article study about the AL's dominance of late that you might find interesting:

As for the all-star game, there's a lot of luck involved in any single-game format, and even looking at a 10-year run still means a tiny sample size.

Money talks. The average AL payroll is about $15 million a year more than the NL. You get what you pay for.

It's very simple : The AL spends money, and lots of it, to contract the best players in baseball.
Better players = winning teams.

maybe it is a simple case of the AL (about $82 million/team) spending so much more money than the NL (about $74 million/team).

It's their turn. The NL used to dominate...now the tables have turned.
