Hey i totally get where your coming from, i wanted it so badly for 6 years and i often thought of piercing it myself...until my friend decided to pierce hers and she went through all of the precautionary steps of sterilization to make sure it wouldnt get infected. Well it was crooked and she ended up getting such a bad infection she lost the feeling in her left leg due to nerve damage. Hang in there till your 16 or 18 just try to convince them your responsible. Infections can make you sick so go to a professional. PLEASE DONT DO IT YOURSELF!!!

You should just sneak and get it done by a professional and say you did it yourself because if you mess up and get an infection it won't be pretty so just lie and say you did it yourself.

MakeDamnSure it's a good place because you can still get an infection.

Make sure they use a new needle everytime. Check for a license.Make sure that they even have a sink. Ask questions. Test them and see if the know what they are doing.

If you can't do that ask a proffessional about the procedure and follow it on your own.

Good Luck!

If you get your belly button pierced, you'll need to deal with a long healing time - sometimes as long as five months - as well as the challenge of clothes that create friction, build up moisture, and increase the chance of infection.

Don't make this a do-it-yourself project. Resist the temptation to resort to your friends or to do-it-yourself piercing to get the look you want. The result can be disastrous: wrong and often unsterilized equipment producing botched and unclean piercings, and inadequately pierced openings in the wrong areas of the body. That can mean infection and the formation of scar tissue.

Go for quality! If you decide to go ahead with body piercing, avoid bizarre jewelry such as re-engineered paper clips or safety pins. Instead, invest in quality jewelry such as surgical stainless steel, 14K gold, or titanium. The silver coating on regular costume jewelry can wear off and increase your chance of infection.

skin cellPiercing heals by the formation epithelial cells along the inside of the piercing to protect the body from the foreign object. These cells form a layer of skin along the inside of the piercing in about 6 to 8 weeks. Since the epithelial layer can easily be torn, do not force the jewelry to rotate without first applying warm water. The piercing may need to be soaked in warm water to allow the skin to expand. It takes six months to a year for the epithelial layer to toughen and strengthen. The entrance of the piercing will round inwards, like a donut hole.

you could get hepatitis B or C by using items that are not sterile, and these are not lightweight infections.... they damage your liver for the rest of your life. Are you willing to risk that just for fashion?

I don't like the expletives used by #1 but I have to agree. If you get an infection you'll definately care! And it's just a bit painfull!
Ear lobes are supposed to be easy to peirce as rumer has it but let me tell you about the time you have that needle half way thru and there's blood and pain, well lets just say - it ain't pretty! My sister and I thought it would be easy and a fun way to spend our evening - say about thirty some odd years ago! My ears are however still peirced but - probably not as even nor straight as they out to be. Any way I'd go with your parents lack of support on this one. After all they are looking out for your best interest - wether it seems that way or not!

1. Dont pierce yourself, you could end up with an infection.
2. Try to convince them by telling them the pro's or good effects of navel piercings.
3. I you really cant convince them and you want to do it yourself, search for navel piercing procedure on the net.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU DONT PIERCE YOURSELF OR GET 1 WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT. Your'e in a big mess if you do...

Ice to numb it ,a fat needle, neosporin and some sea salt for infection. Atleast that's how we use to pierce the nose.

ok....1st...how old are you...2nd...calm down...chances are you prob. wouldn't be able to do it yourself...unless you had a really steady hand and semi-strong stomach...3rd depends on what type of bellybutton you have...4th i got mine done and i'm 15...chances are that you don't have a 14 gauge needle sitting around somewhere...sterilization has to be to a max and it has to heal 3 months before you can change it...just don't f-ing do it yourself...you'll put a lot of pain on yourself
