When I use to work drive thru at Taco Bell, customers would always act rude to me no matter how nice I was to them. I would smile and say, how are you? or have a nice day? And whenever I would do those things they would look at me like I"m crazy. And one time it was my first day on the job and I met a woman at the window who was like, "Straw, Straw, where's my straw, they always give me a straw." I considered Taco Bell to be the worst job I've ever had. Not only were the customers rude to me, but also the people that I've worked with. Some would boss me around for no reason, act rude. I mean, I"m the type of person who is quiet, doesnt bother anybody. Just there to do my job, get paid and go home. Any comments, advice?

I know the customer is always right, but it's like when I give them respect, they dont give me any at all.

Honey, its not you. There are just a lot of rude and mean people out there. So just smile and take pride in the fact that you don't have to be like that. I know sometimes its hard to take, but you will feel good about yourself, and I'm sure they can't say that.

I work in a restaurant and I feel the same way sometimes. But every once and while I get a customer that is really nice or leaves a very good tip. Those customers help make the whole job seem better. I'm sure that it is harder to find customers in the fast food business. all you can do is keep being nice and hope that they will show you the respect they owe you. I hope that the people that are extra rude get what they deserve in the end.

Fast Food, is not the best place for customer appreciation. Many choose drive thru because they do not have the patience or taste for fine dining. Many are rude. Even in good restaurants many customers are very rude. Many were not taught manners as a child by parents and show little respect for anyone. That's must be a problem for them too in their everyday life. When you treat someone as they treated you, they probably behave this way with others in their life too. Grouchy people have few friends!

I have worked with the public for many years, and I can tell you, here where I live, it is the other way around. My husband has now started saying " you're welcome" when we leave the drive thru. I always so "Hey how are you today," 9 out of 10 times they are nice to us but other times they act like they are doing us a favor to wait on us. Like 2 weeks ago, my husband went to McDonalds and ordered 1 Big Mac meal. The girl said 4 Big Mac Meals, he said "No mam, 1 Big Mac meal, she screams at him you wait a minute, hold up, to that he said I tell you what never mind, just keep it and cancel my order.

I don't mind being nice to anyone but if you work in a situation with people you should be nice and in the same respect people should be nice to you.

I am sorry they are not.

I know what your talking, People think they are better than you because your working at Taco Bell. They think that you will stay there or something. I worked as a bagger at a Food store when I was 17, and some people acted like I was stupid. They acted like I was below them. I mean, dam, its my first job.

Even if I wanted to make it my life career, Why look at me or treat me like I am Trash? Because, they need to feel good about themselve by making you feel bad.

Honey, they suck! They are of low value that do those kind of things. Be cheerful, don't become them. Continue to be nice, even if they are mean. God will bless you. Be a peace maker, don't let people's rudeness or negativity affect your good mood. Smile and say, "Have a nice day!" - With your biggest and Fakest smile ever. They know you really mean. "Go to Hell B**ch.

I used to work in taco bell also, and you're so right, people is really mean and I think is cause they are so hungry and frustrated cause they cant get anything better and they go over there and mess with the employees. I used to answer really nice and always smiling even when one costumber sent me to hell, cause he wanted not spicy melt cheese and as you know the cheese is spicy it comes like that.

If you can, try to get another job like a supermarket or some other place. It's more relax and you will feel more happier. trust me.

Some people are just blind to employee respect for customers.
Some are so crazy that respectful treatment translates to them, as disrespectful. It's some times common with older people . When a fast food employee says, have a good day, I always say, you, too. But they some times act, as if I was gruff- but I wasn't. I never am. It don't figure.

Some people are just mean and are always like that. Im sure waiters at top scale places will tell you the same thing. The only other thing I could think of is if they were concerned their order was gonna get messed up or they were embarrased they were getting fast food.

I hear you. Working retail has to be the hardest job around. Customers in general are OK, but the rude ones are getting more and more rude. And rude ones are growing in numbers.

I don't know what it is that make people treat fast-food workers so badly.
