the last one.

but then people are different and others may not like the same things as you. i've thought for a while that ideally you'd try to understand & respect others before doing anything onto them.

What you are looking for is completely Biblical.
The Golden Rule was taught by Jesus in the New Testament.

Matthew 7:12
"Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets."

Luke 6:31
"Do for others as you would like them to do for you."

Luke 10:27
"You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, all your mind. And, Love your neighbor as yourself."

Mark 12:31
"Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these."

Matthew 22:39
"Love your neighbor as yourself."

These last three verses about loving your neighbor and God are in reference to Old Testament text:

Leviticus 19:18
"Never seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord."

Deuteronomy 6:5
"And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength."

In reference to the other two versions you speak of, these were developed by sinful man who are greedy and selfish.

I hope this helps, and first seek the Bible for any other questions you may have.

Take Care, Thomas
