Two sticks, not so easily, but I'll give this one a shot.

Basically, you need two things to start a fire, heat and fuel. For building a wood fire, you need a good starter such as kindling or some other easily flammable substance like the strands of cattails or whatever those plants are that grown near/in rivers & ponds.

Theoretically you should have a stick with a slightly rounded end, and a larger wooden piece like a log or a piece of bark or something, and then your tinder.

So, if you can, shred one of the sticks into fine tinder (or find some cattails or other dry fibrous material that might burn easily), and pile that up on the bark or piece of larger wood.

For heat, the theory goes that you can use friction to heat up the piece of wood and the kindling. The idea is to put one end of the stick onto/into the tinder, and hold the other end between your hands. The stick should be not too thin since it needs rigidity, but not to big 'cause you need to roll it between your hands...

Once you've got the stick between your hands and one end pressed on the tinder and the larger piece of bark or log or whatever, you should press down the lengths of the stick and rub it back and forth, rotating it and pressing it into the log and tinder. The rotation and pressure will cause friction between the stick, the tinder and the log. But you have to apply a decent amount of downward pressure while you're spinning the stick between your hands. And you have to spin it fairly quickly to get enough friction to heat everything up.

After you go at it a while, the wood and tinder will hopefully get hot enough the start forming embers or hotspots in the tinder. If you can time it just right to get a few embers and blow on them they might get hot enough to cause other strands to light and get a tiny fire going. Then you can put more tinder on and the small sticks and kindling.

It's not easy, but sometimes if you really need to get a fire going and have no other method, it's better than nothing. But you have to make sure you're in a fairly sheltered location and nothing is wet, or it probably won't work... And just one stick against another probably won't do it. You need tinder.

Hi ,, the friction of rubbing them together causes heat,, which in turn ,,can cause fire....

good luck...
