My father was not educated, but he taught me to be honest and have integrity. And my mother was the kindest person I have ever met. But the person who had the biggest impact on my life was my school principal.
I went to a very small school with only 60 students in the whole school. Our principal was also our history and geography teacher and home room teache for the entire high school!
He taught us about buddha, jesus, muhammed, mahavira, and especially how to live a happy life without inflicting anybody any pain physically or mentally, discipline and hard work and respect for all human beings - a true picture of what a secular world citzen should be. I have met people of all races and religions and all walks of life, but no body comes close to him by miles.
Bippin Bihari Lal Mathur. (BB Mathur) he lead a very simple life, how rich was he without having so much money ...

Years ago I ran a printing press. It was a process proto type. I was the only person that could make it run right and keep it there. They brought this guy in who owned his own company for advice on why other people couldn't run it. When my name came up this guy shuts them down by saying that I could do anything I wanted to do. That I was a rare breed. This also gave me the incentive to go back to school.( it was the only words of encouragement I ever got to that point.)

It's been the bad people in my life, more than the good, that have had a true 'impact' - only because they've been the catalyst that has brought about major change in my life or my view of it.
Everything after that has been myself - searching for my beliefs and finding my own wholeness. : )

I dont feel I am very much a product of anyone's influence. My parents, for example, brought me up as a christian. They were married, still are, and expected me to someday get married. But I am 39, still single, and an atheist.
I feel I am a very independent, analytical thinker, and though I get ideas and inspiration from many many sources around me, I cant point to one person and say they were a huge influence on me.
