According to the reading I have done regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), the brain, when it senses that blood sugar is low, will do sometimes strange things to get the blood sugar (glucose) out of storage and into the blood stream. Pain, shakes, sudden hot flashes sometimes may be symptoms of low blood sugar.

Suggestion? Go to the kitchen and get some protein, meat, a can of tuna or whatever, and eat it. Also have some carbohydrate, like a handful of chips, an apple or other fruit, or some carrots/celery and some nuts or peanut butter. Eat at least 2 ounces of the protein. Then drink a glass of water and lie down and try to sleep for at least 30 minutes. You may find weakness and changes of temperatures have ceased. You may need pain meds for the migraine.

Chronic low blood sugar can also cause self-esteem problems, anger management problems and a whole bunch of other physical and mental nasties. You may want to check out the symptoms link on www.hufa.org, and see how you check out.

Hi. I get them too. I am also on meds. but I try not to use them. A nap usually works. If you put an ice pack on the part that hurts that can work as well. Get the flexible ice pack because as you probably know the migraine can be at more then one place. The big thing is to relax. The best thing to do is the nap or to just lay down your room with all lights and TV off. Sound and lights are the worst when dealing with this horrible migraine. Also caffeine and sugar is no good. I noticed that it brings on the headache. I know it sucks that you cant have coffee or chocolate as much but at least you will be pain free! I gave you a source hope it helps. Hope that kinda helps.
