i changed fan clutch, had it flushed, and i changed the thermostat, the waterpump seems to work fine also, any suggestions?

coolant sensor or expansion tank....
American cars have lousy cooling systems anyways..
Too much air in your cooling system.
I change my rad cap about every year, and leave some space in the reservoir for air

even though you already replaced it, change the thermostat again with a new one. My father was a certified GM mechanic and has seen many defective thermostats come right off the shelf. If this does not work, try the radiator cap. By the way, are you loosing coolant or not. If you are, can you tell from what area? White exhaust smoke could mean head gaskets, wet floor boards usually means heater core, which is on the firewall usually behind glove box. If you are not loosing coolant, it is likely to be a thermostat or radiator cap. Also, does your truck have an electric fan? If so, is it working properly? If it isn't that is probably the problem. It probably does not have an electric fan. To check, is it fastened to the back of the radiator with an electric motor or is it connected to the front of the engine with a fan belt on the back?

By the way, forget the alternator. That is part of the electrical system, not the cooling system.

Maybe buy a radiator cap. Is hard to check these special kinds, when they combined the overflow with the radiator fill. Or better yet, find a garage that has the adapter to pressure test the cap, and the cooling system. Good luck.

is the thermostat in ok ck for leaks do you have the rad shuld on any thing blocking the rad. have the system presser tested free at a auto store and most will tell you how to repair it is the thermostat a 190 or highter

Did someone say check the alternator or did I have a mini stroke?

How is it overheating? Just the gage reading or what?

it could be something simple. try checking the outside of the radiator for debris blocking air from going through. also, is your belt tension tight enough to turn the water pump?

sounds like a pin hole in the head gasket start the motor with the radiator cap of and if it blows out air its your head or head gasket
