If you've never had one before, you should see a doctor so he can make sure it is in fact a yeast infection. There are over the counter products you can get, as described in one of the answers above (for the love of god don't do the yogurt thing....most have sugar in them and you should know that sugar and vagina don't ever mix).
There are also some prescription creams and lotions that work better on some yeast infections than the over the counter type, another good reason to talk to your doctor about this, so if it doesn't go away with an OTC treatment, she can call in the other kind for you. I've had a doctor prescribe a systemic anti-fungal drug once which worked great (diflucan I think), but this was for a confirmed yeast infection that did not respond to the ANY of the creams/lotions.

o, wow some of these answers scare me......go to walmart and get a yeast infection kit; it comes with a creme and a pill-that an egg shape you can use the creme first of all and it will stop the itch immediatly and then the egg comes with an insertion tube like a tampon use it before you go to bed, and thats all-yogurt and water will help prevent them from reoccuring.

It's probably best to go to your doctor and get medication. Otherwise there are OTC drugs like monistat and vagasil.
