Just curious, I work at a retail outlet and have friends "couched" for wearing inappropriate footwear to work. I was wondering if it really mattered that much.

It depends on what type of store that the clerk is working in.If the store is a causal one then there is no problem. As long as the peson who is wearing them is clean & well kept.

I don't care if they're wrapped in a wet sheet! It's the way that the person comes across when they're selling the product. Posture, enthusiasm, etc.

And uniforms in retail stores are a ghastly trend, by the way.
Best Buy and Target--you make your employees look like geeky gym teachers. Shame shame shame.

Most of the time no if you are selling jeans an stuff it is OK. If you are selling suits then no it isn't. I once worked for a furntire store and we were not allowed to wear shorts during the hot summer.

Nope, the more comfortable an associate is, then the more efficient they may be. And as long as they can get the job done in a friendly and helpful manner I don't care what they look like.

No. As long as they are neat and tidy I don't have a problem.

In my job as a salesbot, we wear a company shirt and black pants. We are supposed to wear a tie, but our proprietor doesn't like them so we don't have to wear them.
