Swimming pool for swimming, and ocean for SCUBA diving, sailing, jet skiing, etc.
I won't swim in the ocean because I've SCUBA dived down there and know what's down there! Once while SCUBA diving in the Caribbean, I had speared a red snapper and was carrying it back to shore when a 8 to 10 ft. shark rammed me in the side of my hip with his snout! I looked over at it, (ABSOLUTELY ALARMED!), noticed that my hand, (and fish), were right at about mouth level to him... so I let go of the fish immediately and he lunged at it gobbling it up in one bite!... right in front of my face!!!!! We were eye to eye... literally, and his head was about as big as my chest! (He must have followed me and the fish's blood trail for who knows how long before bumping me). I was about 20 to 30 feet from the shoreline and in about 3 ft. depth of water where this took place!
I was scared, glad, and pissed all at the same time!!!

Sea Of Beer

Two Irishmen were adrift in a life boat following a dramatic escape from a burning freighter. While rummaging through the boat's provisions, one of the men stumbled across an old lamp.

Secretly hoping that a genie would appear, he rubbed the lamp vigorously. To the amazement of the castaways, a genie came forth.

This particular genie, however, stated that he could only deliver one wish, not the standard three.

Without giving much thought to the matter the man blurted out, "Make the entire ocean into beer!"

The genie clapped his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the entire sea turned into the finest brew ever sampled by mortals.

Simultaneously, the genie vanished. Only the gentle lapping of beer on the hull broke the stillness as the men considered their circumstances.

One man looked disgustedly at the other whose wish had been granted. After a long, tension filled moment, he spoke: "Nice going idiot! Now we're going to have to piss in the boat!"

Definitely swimming pool. I don't care about my hair much 'cuz I usally wear a cap.
The ocean is almost always FREEZING. And I get so much sand stuck in my swim suit whenever I go to the beach. And if the beach doesn't have showering facilities, like the time when I went with my parents to go swim in an ocean HOURS away, I'd have to sit in a car, soggy and sand-covered, smelling like salt and feeling sticky... I really hate feeling that gross.
So, I definitely prefer pools. They're so much more convenient and not to mention cleaner.

Swimming pool, for sure. I have real issues feeling shells under my feet and worrying about the clear stingy things in the shallow waters. Not to mention all the sand that sticks to you for 5 days after you get home from the beach. And, didn't you ever wonder why the ocean is salty?? It's from all the fish poo!!!!! GROSS!

At least if someone poo's in the swimming pool, the cloriene will kill anything that lingers. Thank God for the pool!

I can honestly say I have done both at the same time. While taking a Caribbean cruise, the water they used in the pool was from the ocean. Very salty, dries the skin extremely fast, and accelerates your sunburn rate by 500%. That being said, I would rather swim in a regular swimming pool. (Also, you don't have to worry about sharks, eels, or jellyfish).

first of all how about a lake or pond such as lake michigan? i am 1/2 mile away from it.. with the ocean which i never swam in is very salty you have critters like sharks eels, jelly fish ect that i personally would like to get bite from or eatten from. so i would rather swim in a lake or pond and swimming pool versus a ocean. the best swimming story i have... swimming across the bay of Green bay was the greatest and it only took a 24 hours. of course i wasn't a lone i was with my hubby and we did it as a honey moon..and to top things all off i was three months pregnant. everything went great would i do it again most certainly.

It depends on what ocean where. But definately the ocean if it's the warm, crystal-clear blue-green waters of the carribean. I've spent hours there on vacation, near white sand beaches and palm trees, with hammocks and drinks with little umbrellas. And in the waters, even swimming with manta rays.

Can't get that in a swimming pool.

Definately swimming pool!

I went to the beach earlier this year and saw all kinds of disgusting stuff wash up on the beach. I'm not talking just dead sealife! The dead sea creatures were there, but I'm talking more about used condoms, condom wrappers, bottles, syringes, etc. Who knows what's in the water anymore!? Nope, didn't even wade in the water.
