Many states have enacted laws which allow you to close certain records. The prosecutor and other officials can see them, but a prospective employer might not be able to.
IT DEPENDS ON THE STATE, and the best thing to do is contact a lawyer, and see if you can close the record.
In the state where I live, records can be closed, but only if there was never a conviction. That means that the defendant had to either be found not guilty, or that he was put on probation and served out the probation without a problem.
If there was a conviction, or a plea of guilty and a fine or a sentence, then you may have a bigger problem.
Get a lawyer.

Umm...yeah, that's kinda the idea. None of us want to be out there driving with a bunch of drunken truck drivers on the road with us.
Stay off the road if you can't control your drinking!

Tell the a$$holes who won't hire you that George Bush, President of the United States, has at least one DUI. Our Vice President, Dick Cheney, has three drunken driving convictions.
#(*#$%)@!
Edit: Become a Mexican, jump the border and they'll forgive you for all the laws you've broken.
