It's basically an each to his/her own society with no form of government. Each person governs themself, etc... And I think it's a bad idea because well... that's just crazy. I mean ppl have proven that they are greedy by nature. Just imagine no set of rules to follow. It would be complete chaos.

I was interested in anarchism when I was a teenager in the 80's but I got talked out of it. I even checked out a book on it that I didn't really read much of. The problem with anarchy is it offers no workable system of society to replace the overthrow of the government with. Society could not function the way it does now and people would revert back to the stone age in technology. A person would have to be armed and constantly looking over his shoulder. You could not have supermarkets and stores because people would just kill and steal everything in sight.

It's a philosophy and way of ruling that says that all forms of authority should be banned, thus everyone should look for what's best for him/herself. I think this is a really bad idea. It all depends on how you see humanity; if you believe that humanity is innately good then anarchism is good because everyone looks out for each other without the pressure that they have to do it but if you believe that humanity is innately bad then it is a horrible idea because there would be chaos. Imagine, no rules, people would go bezerk. You could kill, rob, etc... without having to respond to it, not just to the government but to anyone

Anarchism is the fundamental belief that the state, laws and all forms of government authority is unjustified, oppressive and illegitimate. Therefore the government should be abolished and social and economic issues be carried out by means of voluntary and consensual arrangements.
Its fairyland stuff....Like Communism, it won't work

anarchism is the belief that human beings do not need a state to tell them how to live their lives. it is the notion that they can enjoy life, liberty, prosperity, freedom, and justice in a voluntary not mandatory society with institutions that enable individuals to govern themselves rather than be governed by others.
it does not necessarily mean violence, revolution, bomb throwing, destruction of private property, or horrible things.
I think that anarchism is good, because it is mankind living in his natural state of freedom. i do not think that it is utopia because i do not believe in utopias. but it is better than what we know now, where 100% of the human race lives under the oppression of a nation state of one kind or another.
read about it, and perhaps you can become an anarchist just like me!

Just take a view at Iraq.
Under dictorship rule, the citizen live in fear, if you do not follow his rules. .
But as an society, its more or less stable, was properous than any of its neighbours. You do not have any road side car bombs.
See how life now was without this "fear".
In a chaotic world, sometimes a dictorship could be good than having few docile meeky lambs who talks about democracy and human-rights, and are easily replaced or the weak collective government being influenced by foreign powers.
Fanatics fear no meeky lambs, they fear ruthless dictators.

It's when there is no government and the strongest prevail living however they see fit. I.E. You are run off the road by a big truck just because they can do it. Or a large group of vandals storms a store taking whatever they wish with no fear of reprisal. All of these are examples of Anarchism.
So do you think it's a good thing?

Have you ever heard the word DICTIONARY? If not, get up our lazy ... and go buy one. For the second part of the question, I"d say that even in a utopian world we would need conventional laws, some fort of arrangement to facilitate a semblance of harmony Therefore it can't be good
