How do I remove buildup from my glass shower doors? They are dull and it drives me nuts. Also, how do I prevent this buildup? I tried spray w. soap scum remover and glass cleaner but to no avail.

When you are done cleaning the door with the suggestions from the others. My cousin does this, after she takes a shower she takes a thing i think it is called a squeegee. She takes the squeegee and wipes the door down after each shower and her shower door is so clean.

Good Luck I know it is frustrating.

The simplest and cheapest solution yet is what I use -- a 33 cent can of scouring powder like Comet. No name brands work just as well. If they contain bleach that will work best.

1) wet the shower door (I even do this while in the shower sometimes).
2) rub scouring powder on it from sponge or cloth.
3) wait 1 minute.
4) rinse with hot water on the cloth or sponge.

To help keep it clean --use squeegee after every use of the shower.

You can try a couple things. There is some work involved but it'll be worth the effort. I've done this two different ways. Okay, get a good cleaner that's for hard water. Like Kaboom, CLR Bathroom, Zep bathroom cleaner. Then rinse the shower down with a little water and spray the cleaner. Don't be afraid to use alot! Scrub real good and rinse. Then take full strength vinegar and wipe down the shower with it. (pour it in a bowl and dunk the cloth in it) Afterwards dry the shower down. If it still looks dull then it is hard water stains. There are two things that'll help you with that. Lemi-shine (walmart usually carries this) There is a "recipe" on the bottle for cleaning. or you can order Spot X .

After you finally get the shower looking good again wipe it down with car polish, rain-x, or invisi-guard to repel water and stains. And invest in a squeegee. Dry your shower down after use. It'll save you lots of time and energy in the future!

I saw this on the Brit show "How Clean is Your House", the one with the two nicely dressed and finely manicured ladies.
They say, and I really did try it, that Lemon Juice gets anything dingy, drab or moldy out of the tub, shower door or tile. Just be sure to wet the surface with water before (or after, but at some point anyway) and the juice will foam up and take anything off!!!!!
It was all a little bit too exciting, but now anyone who reads this can try it for them selves!!!
Obviously, brush or wipe away the dirt once the lemon juice has activated.
Good luck.

There is a product called "the works". I have used this on the stuff that collects up on the upper glass of the aquarium. ( of course I remove it from the tank 1st !)

This comes in either a spray or squeeze-type bottle. Just spray the doors & it will turn like a white color. I use an old scrub brush to scrub it, then spray again. Wait about 20minutes and rinse thoroughly.

In the future, to keep the spots off, just use a squeegee. No spots, means no build-up!

Another product(s) on the market: "CLR" (calcium-lime-rust remover), other brands do the same)

Take a spray bottle, fill it almost to the top with water and then add one serving spoon full of washing up liquid. Keep the bottle in the shower and EVERYTIME you finish your shower, spray the glass and then rinse off. It works a treat. You may need to do a bit of extra maintainance maybe once a month, but no biggies.

Sprinkle baking soda and a bit of vinegar, and immediately rub the glass down with a plastic scrub. Rinse well. Should be spottless.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I FOUND A GREAT SOLUTION. GET SOME LEMON GEL DISHWASHING SOAP AND A FINE BRILLO PAD. SQUIRT SOME DISHWASHING SOAP ON THE SHOWER DOORS AND THEN TAKE THE BRILLO AND LIGHTLY SCRUB IT IN A CIRCULAR MOTION, THEN RINSE WITH WATER. YOU WILL HAVE THE CLEAREAST SHOWER DOOR AROUND.

a "magic eraser" works pretty good at getting that stuff off. but once you have it off.............try putting "rainx" on the shower doors.
